Eleanor Mondale wants to set the record straight about her relationship with President Clinton. (In the Starr report, he allegedly canceled an appointment with Monica Lewinsky to meet with Mondale). "My father ran for president, and people tend to forget that I am an old friend of the Clinton family," she says. "I was on my way to the airport and phoned up to stop by and visit him at the White House. It was nothing more than that..."
... Her dad was vice president -- Clinton is a president COMMITING vice...
NEW YORK POST, SEPTEMBER 15th: MONICA Lewinsky didn't have any reason to be jealous about Eleanor Mondale's presence at the White House, the former veep's daughter tells PAGE SIX. Monica stormed off in a jealous rage on Dec. 6, 1997, when she found out President Clinton couldn't see her because he was busy with Mondale. The Starr Report states Lewinsky, who was bearing gifts - an antique book on Teddy Roosevelt, a silver cigar holder, a mug and a tie - was so upset, she rushed to a pay phone to berate Betty Currie, the loyal Oval Office gatekeeper who had told Monica the prez couldn't see her because he was huddled with his lawyers...
... She may not have been lying about the "huddling" part, anyway...
Eleanor, the leggy, twice-divorced 37-year-old daughter of Walter Mondale, has been a favorite jogging partner of the President. She ran with Clinton in March 1996 in Washington and again two months later in California. The inclusion of her name in the Starr Report fueled persistent speculation there's more than jogging to the friendship...
... It's just like the Nike slogan: "Just Do Her... I mean IT." Sorry...
The vivacious Mondale attracted attention more than two years ago when she flirted with the Commander-in-Chief at a small party in his hotel suite after a big fundraiser at the residence of Hollywood powerbroker Lew Wasserman. She'd get excited when he came to California. Her manicurists and hair people know all about it...
