From a recent interview with NBC News:
NBC NEWS: She told you in 1981 that Bill Clinton assaulted her?
MR. PHILLIP YOAKUM: Mm-hm. Yes, 1981 is when she told me.
NBC NEWS: Did you believe her at the time?
MR. YOAKUM: I believed her.
NBC NEWS (LISA MYERS): Yoakum admits he is no fan of the president and that he unsuccessfully tried to get Broaddrick to tell her story when Clinton first ran for president.
MR. YOAKUM: And she says, Who would believe me, little old Juanita from Van Buren?'
LISA MYERS: There was another woman at that hotel that day, a nurse and friend of Broaddrick who says she iced her friend's face after the assault. In a telephone interview with NBC News, this woman, who admits she dislikes Clinton, said Broaddrick was distraught, her lips were swollen at least double in size. She told me they had intercourse against her will.' Again a White House spokesman dismissed the charge as outrageous, false, and the work of the president's long-time political opponents.
Broaddrick has recanted the allegation under oath. However, Paula Jones' attorneys claim Broaddrick told their investigators that she'd suffered "a horrible thing" and didn't want to relive it.
Juanita lives in Van Buren, Arkansas, and owns several businesses with her husband, David. They include Brownwood Manor, a home for the elderly, and Brownwood Life Care Center, a facility for disabled children.
Result: A home for the elderly? Bob Dole may try to get lucky next.
